ASVAB Score – Navy recruits must score at least 35 on the AFQT. The Navy raised this requirement from 31 in 2003 for active duty accessions. Reserve enlistment programs still only require a score of 31.

Education – Like the Air Force, the Navy accepts very, very few recruits who don’t have a high school diploma. To be considered for enlistment with a GED, you must score a minimum of 50 on the AFQT. You must also have no drug use, and at least three references from influential members of the community (police, fire, judge, teacher, ect.). Any police involvement, other than minor traffic offenses will also disqualify a GED applicant.

(a) Tattoos/body art/brands. No tattoos/body art/brands on the head, face, neck, or scalp. Tattoos/body art/brands elsewhere on the body that are prejudicial to good order, discipline and morale or are of a nature to bring discredit upon the Navy are prohibited. For example, tattoos/body art/brands that are excessive, obscene, sexually explicit or advocate or symbolize sex, gender, racial, religious, ethnic or national origin discrimination are prohibited. In addition, tattoos/body art/brands that advocate or symbolize gang affiliation, supremacist or extremist groups, or drug use are prohibited. Tattoos/body art/brands will not be visible through uniform clothing. Waivers may be requested for prior service and existing tattoos from the Chief of Naval Operations.

I served four years, two on an aircraft carrier and about 18 months in Washington DC. Though I often wondered what the hell I had put myself in, boot camp wasn’t really that bad and it was only for 8 weeks. If you have other questions, just ask.

Your physical condition is stellar compared to mine when I joined. I ran the mile and half around 13 minutes when I first joined (I got it down to around 8 and a half before the accident).

I have seen people get in with ASVABs around 30 and still get in as cooks and such. However, better positions will require higher ASVABs. I was a nuclear reactor operator on a submarine, and my ASVAB was a 98 on the first try.

The tattoos may be an issue, but see if your recruiter can get a waiver for you. You must clear any future tattoos through your chain of command, otherwise you can get punished.

I will say this about Basic Training: put any grudges against working with others of different background away, and do not be the division “smartass”, as you will be worked harder than everyone else. You will also not be allowed to smoke while in Basic Training.

Smoking is allowed in some areas of some ships, depending on the chain of command, but those days are ending.

To make things work well, get some study materials from your recruiter, and if the position that you want does not start you out at E-3, talk with your recruiter to take some “classwork” to get you to start at E-3, which does get you some better benefits and higher pay.

1: penn Foster IS NOT a valid school and would NOT be good enough for the Navy.. you must take 15 credits IN PERSON. The Navy won’t seriously consider anyone unless you get at least a 65 raw score on the ASVAB regardless of your educational status and are only looking to fill certain ratings.. most of which require higher scores such as EOD, CTI, and Nuke.

2: the tatts will all show in uniform and thus are Disqualifying.. a waver for one will be hard enough, you need several. the one on the Finger: is a PDQ and must be REMOVED, no waiver is permitted for hands, face or neck tatts.

so enroll into a LEGITIMATE brick and mortar school.. your local community college is perfect. REMOVE the finger tattoo and hope that the Navy will grant you waivers for the others.

As always, Mrsjvb is dead on, no bullshit. Which is more than I can say for you. If you can run 1.5 miles in 5 minutes while smoking, you should be in the Olympics, not the Navy.

HELPP I WANT TO TAKE MY BOYFRIEND TO A CUBS GAME!!

hello, I would like to take my boyfriend to a cubs game but im not really sure what game would actually be a good one to watch! I don’t really know about the baseball teams and who would be good opponents ! here is the link for the game listings, and it has to be in july, and on a saturday or a friday! thank you for your time, i just have no clue where to start lol and as i girl i just start looking at the promos gifts! haha http://www.stubhub.com/chicago-cubs-tickets/ ( this is where you find the games)

I almost wish I had a g/f like you, honestly, if you took me to any game, i’d just be happy about that.

Boston/Chicago vs Chicago

But Boston is really popular

Try to get tickets for Cardinals at Cubs on July 27 or 28.

The Boston tickets would be better, but that’s in June.

Cubs-Cardinals July 27-28…best rivalry in baseball.

Yes, I would try for Cubs/Cardinals tickets. This guide can help you find the right seats
http://bestbaseballseats.com/chicagocubs.html…and you can probably find a better deal through them than stubhub.

They play the Cardinals on July 27-29. That is their rival and should be a good series to see.

INeedSeats.com is usually cheaper. Check there for tickets.

Any Cubs game would be a blast, go with the tickets that are the most in your budget. Here is a long list of ticket companies if you want to browse for tickets. There are also plenty of coupon codes listed for you as well.

For your first game I would recommend the bleachers.

How to get to Wrigley Field (Chicago) by train

I am going to a Cubs game next Saturday. I live in South Bend and I plan on taking the South Shore to Chicago. That will take me from South Bend, IN to the Millennium Station. How do I get to Wrigley from there?

  • Walk a couple blocks west on Randolph St. and catch the Red Line to Addison Street and get off with the crowd drops off very close to Wrigley less than a block
  • Walk west on Randolph Street to State Street, turn right at State Street and get on the red line, take the train going towards Howard. The 7th stop will be Addison, get off there and walk not even a half block to the west and you will be at Wrigley Field.

Be sure to get on the red line, it’s in the subway and not on the elevated tracks. It’ll be about a five minute walk from Randolph Station to State and Lake.

Where is the best place to sit for a Chicago Cubs game out of the following choices

I am from Pittsburgh and am traveling to Chicago this summer and plan on catching a game for the first time at Wrigley field. I am just wondering out of the following sections, which will be the best place to view/enjoy the game? I am looking for the best seats for the money (I am a poor college student, so the cheaper the better).
-Upper deck reserved outfield $19
-Upper deck reserved infield $21
-Budweiser Bleachers (General Admission) $27
-Terrace Reserved Outfield $28
-Terrace Reserved infield $32
Hey tool, If you weren’t such a Illiterate prick, I said I am in college. So stop trying to be a tough guy behind a computer screen. Sounds like you got little man syndrome.

All those seats sound great but why don’t you get a real fyuking job instead of working at micky D’s and get some real seats.

In my opinion, I would go for the bleacher seats myself. No, they aren’t the greatest seats at Wrigley. However, every true baseball fan needs to sit in the bleachers at Wrigley at least once. It is an unforgettable experience. Plus since your in college, you will LOVE the atmosphere out there. Hopefully your going on a hot Chicago summer afternoon game. Grab a couple buddies and a lot of cold ones, man you can’t beat it. Not to mention the women sitting in the bleachers in the summer. Trust me, you won’t soon forget it!!

Here is a link to FromThisSeat.com’s Cubs page. Just click on the section you’re interested in to read feedback from fans that have already sat there.

Hope this helps. Have fun in Chicago.

http://www.bestbaseballseats.com/chicagocubs.html would say that for the value, you’ll probably want to go with Upper Deck Box or Bleachers. Reserved infield are good, too. But if you want to go for the social scene, the Bleachers are where it’s at.

Also, I’m not sure where you’re planning to buy tickets, but you may be able to find a better deal through one of the brokers listed at Best Baseball Seats…I would comparison shop through those guys and find your best deal.

Where should I go on my road trip down south

Me and a couple of buddies are looking to go on a road trip down south this summer. I am from the south side of Chicago, IL and have never experienced "country life". Recently though, I have been listening to country music, and really enjoying it. I attend the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana (the one most people recognize as the fighting Illini), and I am in a fraternity (phi delta theta). My fraternity always has barn dances here, but I want to experience a REAL barn dance, not just a U of I one. I have always wanted to know what it is like down in Dixie, and definitely want to experience as much as I can. I hear the girls are gorgeous and sweet, and the guys are awesome to party with. I am still in the process of planning everything, but what are some stops I have to make?

I want to experience the local scene, not so much the tourist scene. I am looking for like…barn dances, country concerts, rural living and stuff like that. I plan to start up in Chicago at a Cubs game, proceed down to southern IL, cross over to MI, and then head south east. I hear everyone is incredibly friendly down there, and I really want to see it for myself.

One of my goals would be to experience a southern 4th of July. I hear they do it HUGE down south. However, I am not sure where to go…PLEASE SEND ME SOME IDEAS! I am 21, and looking for a great time, traveling the country for a week or two.

One of my buddies has a grandmother who lives in FL, so that is the end goal. So I am trying to hit everything interesting between Chicago and Florida.

Thank you all in advance. (I am hoping the majority of those who send me advice are from people in the south, but any person who has experienced something incredible or fun down south, feel free to share!)

Who knows, you guys might even see me down there. First round on me?

You should go down south with your girlfriend.

Do the St Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals have as big of a rivarly

Like the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox do? Yes or No and why or why not?

As a Cardinal fan this was a rivalry when interleague play started and a chance to avenge the ’85 World Series. Since then I would not say it has been as big a rivalry and certainly not as big as the Cubs/White Sox.

The Cards have been to post season multiple times while the Royals have been mired in last place in the AL Central. The games sell out in KC and the Cardinals fans travel well but it is just another game when the Royals come to St. Louis.

Nope because its not the same city LIke Chicago and NYC also the Cubs White Sox thing goes way back to when the white sox was in AL in 1901
as whewre the Metropolitians and Royals are more recent the early 60′s for the Mets and Royals

No. Only comparison is the Cubs/White Sox and Cards/Royals are in the same states. Cubs & Sox are separated by 7 miles; Cards & Royals are about 300 miles apart.

Before interleague play, the two sets of teams only played in extended spring training games in their MLB stadiums.

Cubs and White Sox rivalry is far more intense due to:
Family and friends living closer in Chicago metro area.
Same local TV, radio and newspaper coverage.
Chicago area stores selling both teams gear.

No. Here are the reasons:

1. St. Louis and Kansas City are all the way across an entire state. They are hours away. Meanwhile, the White Sox and Cubs are spread across only a city, dividing the North and the South.

2. The Royal suck. Let’s face it, a rivalry will have a hard time thriving if one of the teams flat out sucks. I realize the Cubs and Sox aren’t good every single year either, but both teams have had some success within the past few years. The Royals have the longest active streak of not making the playoffs. Because of that, it’s tough to hate a team.

It’s barely a rivalry at all

Whos your favorite Chicago cubs player?

Past, Former and now? And why?

Alfonso Soriano

Ernie Banks – you’ve gotta love Mr. Cub.
Ron Santo – he bled Cub blue.
Ryne Sandberg – the last truly great player the Cubs had.
Brian LaHair/Starlin Castro – because they’re the only players on the team who are worth a damn.

Now? Castro and Lahair the only two players doing anything

Ryne Sandberg.. He was a complete player during an era when the game had two many one-dimensional “all bat, no glove” types….even had a good bit of speed in his younger days. Also respected the quiet, blue-collar way he played the game.

What else is there to do in Chicago before a Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley

Going to a cubs game at Wrigley to see them take on the White Sox for a Sunday Day Game. Been to Chicago before but never for a Cubs game. We plan on going to the bars the night before and the morning before, but would like something to do Saturday during the day. Any suggestions other than the Shed Aquarium and Sears Tower or whatever its called now?
Ohhh shopping and museums, thank you for your input!! The local slut thing is out of the question due to my wife being by my side, and Ive been to the Navy Pier before, again Im looking for something other than the TOP PLACES TO GO WHEN IN CHICAGO!

There’s some great museums and great shopping:)

get head from local sluts

You could check out the Navy Pier

If your not sure what to do just take the L down town and walk around. There are tons of things to do. And if your not from a big city it can be entertaining just to see all of the craziness of a big city.

In Chicago there are tons to do, I would be more surprised if you couldn’t find anything to do. There tons of Museums, have you ever been to the Museum of Science and Industry before? Navy Pier is still a good place to go no matter how many times you have been before? I am not sure how big theater goers you and your wife are, but there a theaters for shows to see you have Broadway in Chicago, and the Goodman Theatre, right now they are presenting the Iceman Cometh that stars Brian Dennehy and Nathan Lane. But prepare yourselves it is a long show, I see that it is about 4 hours and 45 minutes long with 3 intermissions. Have you even seen Millenium Park? Not too sure that you are looking to do if you don’t want the top things to do.

How do I move vines from old home to new home

I have vine in my back yard that i absolutely love. Not only is it pretty but they are vines directly from the vines at Wrigley Field (Chicago Cubs stadium). I’m moving and I want to put them in the garden…advice?

  • At the ground line you should find smaller younger shoots of the vine, dig a few out or if you have to cut away part of the roots with some upper stem. Put the shoots in good topsoil in a planting pot and transport to you new home. Replant where you want them and water well.
You could take cutting from new stem growth but that would take a long time and a lot of them as the infant mortality might be significant.I plant those in a hand dish washing tub in 4″of soil. Drain holes drilled in the bottom and placed in semi-sun. Keep watered and wait about 4 years.
