I need a cheap hotel near chicago (can be 20-30 miles away from Wrigley Field) i want a hotel that’s nice to stay in and can be checked in by someone NOT 21. Im taking my girlfriend to a Cubs game and need to find a nice hotel to stay in. Im looking for a hotel $100 or less. Anyone know of a place?

follow any hoe’s you see, that’s where people under 21 go, you rent by the hour lolz

Most hotels will accept you if you are at least 18 and you have a credit card.

You can find lots of hotels anywhere outside the downtown area that are under $100. Some downtown hotels offer weekend deals for under $100/night. Simply go to something like hotels.com, expedia.com, etc. and look for hotels which satisfy your criteria.

I might suggest you look for hotels in the suburb of Evanston IL, near Northwestern University. Most do have rooms under $100. You can walk to a CTA “L” station and take the train to Wrigley Field. [Take the Purple Line to Howard St, and transfer to the Red Line to Addison.]

There are dozens of places you can find.

Anyway… whatchya got for meeee?
KyleXY – I disagree with the Marlins needing to adjust. Most of their players are veterans, including Guillen. I think they’ll make an early impact. And the Brewers position would depend on Braun’s suspension. If it’s overruled, I definetely agree that they would be in third rather than fourth. And the Cardinals lost too much this offseason to go all the way, but they may go to the LCS, although I don’t think they’re better than the Giants will be. Thanks for the response.

K-Dawg – Normally you would be correct, however this offseason a rule was put in place where the top seed would face the bottom seed regardless if they’re in the same division. That rule could be taken away though… so we’ll see.

the marlins are going to need a few years to adjust. they will be in third or fourth. you got the cardinals right except you should of put the brewers where the cubs are. the giants will in fact lose to the cardinals and the cardinals will beat the diamondbacks in the NLCS. the cardinals will go on to beat the new york yankees in 6 games in the world series!!!

Your playoffs are not accurate since two teams from the same division cannot play each other in the Division Series. You have the Angels and Rangers facing each other in the ALDS. Same for the NL with the Marlins and Phillies. It should be Angels vs Tigers in the ALCS and Phillies vs Cardinals in the NLCS.

I didn’t hear that they might not have that rule. Nevermind then…

1st of all i like you decision for joe mauer. and i dont think teams from the same division cant be in the ds. heres mine.

I agree with you that the Angels are going to make it that far to the world series.

All I’m gonna say is, it’s only Feb. 5.

The NFL Super Bowl ans season is still in progress today.

LMAO this is the dumbest prediction I have ever seen in my life. You’re beyond delusional if you think the Devil Rays are gonna go anywhere this year. 95 wins? Gimme a break. Indians 89 wins? Seriously? Kansas City almost .500? Wow. Yankees missing the playoff? Not gonna happen. D’backs 89 wins? LOL. This is such a joke of a prediction I don’t even know where to start. The Angels CANNOT play against the Rangers in the first round cause they’re from the same division.

Also how could “Ron Gardenhire” win AL manager of the year if the Twins are just .500 LOL.

Prediction
AL East
1. New York Yankees
2. Boston Red Sox
3. Toronto Blue Jays
4. Tampa Bay Devil Rays
5. Baltimore Orioles

1. Detroit Tigers
2. Chicago White Sox
3. Minnesota Twins
4. Kansas City Royals
5. Cleveland Indians

2. Texas Rangers
4. Oakland A’s

NL East

Both Ozzie Guillen and Carlos Zambrano are known to be hot heads, even during their time in Chicago where Carlos Zambrano played for the Chicago Cubs, and Ozzie Guillen manged the Chicago White Sox. And now they are together on the Miami Marlins, and they are known as friends even through they worked for rival teams in Chicago baseball, so who is going to keep an eye on them now?

Great question & my thoughts exactly, when I heard Miami is going to have both. If they have a team psychologist, he’s gonna be putting in a lot of hours.

It’s a time bomb ready to go off. When it does it won’t be pretty. I wouldn’t count of their friendship when it comes down to player verses manager. Zambrano has a big problem with authority. Guillen thinks he can use filthy language to get his point across. Either way MLB will have a big problem on its hands. Personally baseball would be better off without either one.

That’s what I was thinking also. It will be interesting to see. Those two hot heads and don’t forget about Hanley whining about what position he’s going to play. Things could be pretty entertaining on that team.

lol first team they lose to when big Z pitches they might have a brawl with the other team

For about a week I spoke with a girl online. We seemed to have a great connection and I really liked talking to her. I thought we had a great connection! A few days later she messaged me her number and told me to call or text her sometime. Yesterday I sent her a text message and she told me it was her birthday. I asked her if she had any big plans and she told me she was going to Chicago over the weekend for her birthday. We sent a couple text messages throughout the day. I told he I’ve never visited Chicago and if I did I would go to Wrigley field for a Cubs game (jokingly as we are both Cardinal fans) and go to Millenium Park. She didn’t respond back and never sent me a text today. Did she lose interest or is she just playing hard to get? I typically do not double text if a girl doesn’t respond to me. The double texting is kind of a touchy subject. If I don’t hear from her, should I text her in a few days?

I’d wait a few days from the last text and just ask her how Chicago was. That should start up a conversation. If she doesn’t answer back, she might be busy or maybe lost interest.

you gotta text her again. if she acts uninterested, its your call but you should drop it if she does. but yes text her

Honestly, if this was her birthday week shes probally really busy. She might not have time to text a guy that she jsut started talking to a week ago if shes with family or on a great vacation. I would text her in a day or two and jsut say i’ve been thinking about oyu and wondering how it went, I hope it went great.

dude she’s in chicago she’s busy!

I wouldnt jump to conclusions just wait it out for a bit if she doesnt text back by tomorrow afternoon, or something just send another text. Like hi, how are you, whats up, how was your birthday etc. If she does not text back after that maybe she just got caught up in something.

Okay, number one, you don’t even know if she is who she says she is… *facepalm*
Ya, I know you think you do, but advanced technology allows skilled editors to actually change how they appear on live webcamming. Ya. So, if you think you’re skyping a celebrity, and their moving image and voice comes up, just like it would on a regular video call, chances are you’re NOT, unless you have HARD PROOF.

Number 2: If, in fact, this person IS real and is NOT messed up, she wouldn’t have only two reactions. It’s not like she reads your texts and says “Ahhh, this guy’s boring. Bye.” or “eeehhhhheeee I’m gonna play hard to get to make him want me more…”

She might be afraid, confused, nervous, annoyed, angry, upset, mischievous and conniving…
You have the most information as to what’s going on here. Use it wisely. Random internet people aren’t gonna know exactly what’s going on in your situation…

Hope this helped! I just read this over and realized i come across as sassy and sarcastic. I seriously don’t mean it that way. There’s no physical ques in messaging, which really complicates things when it comes to expressive people like me. I hope this helped!!

Pitcher
Born: December 4, 1957 (1957-12-04) (age 54)
Jamestown, Louisiana
Batted: Right Threw: Right
MLB debut
September 1, 1980 for the Chicago Cubs
Last MLB appearance
July 2, 1997 for the Montreal Expos
Career statistics
Games pitched 1,022
Win–loss record 71–92
Earned run average 3.03
Strikeouts 1,251
Saves 478
Teams
Chicago Cubs (1980–1987)
Boston Red Sox (1988–1990)
St. Louis Cardinals (1990–1993)
New York Yankees (1993)
Baltimore Orioles (1994)
California Angels (1995–1996)
Cincinnati Reds (1996)
Montreal Expos (1997)

Career highlights and awards
7× All-Star selection (1983, 1987, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995)
2× NL Rolaids Relief Man of the Year (1991, 1992)
1994 AL Rolaids Relief Man of the Year

its becauise relief pitcher rarely get in
He should be in the HOF hopefully one day and i hope he gets in while he is stil alive unlike Ron Santo in which it came about 366 days late ..

He was what the relief pitchers was compared to in the 70′s and 80′s

He’s really more of a compiler, in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, he’s good, but…
Here’s my main point: Rollie Fingers, who some people think is actually kind of a mistake, had twelve seasons with an ERA under 3.00, and three with an ERA under 2.00. AND he won a Cy Young Award. AND an MVP.
Lee Smith only had ‘six’ seasons with an ERA under 3.00, and only ‘one’ with an ERA under 2.00.
Plus, Smith debuted on the HOF ballot after Mariano Rivera had established his dominance. Smith mostly pitched one inning and had an ERA of 3.03. Rivera mostly pitched one inning and had an ERA of 2.21. 2.21!
So now they’re comparing Smith, who was good, against Rivera, who’s bloody awesome. Suddenly, Smith just doesn’t seem very HOF-ey.

Because relief pitchers rarely get elected to the HOF.

My boyfriend and I are celebrating my 21st there and I really want to remember it. I’m already planning to see a Cubs game, and I’ve been keeping my eye on The Metro concert venue, but what are some more BRAG worthy things to do there?
-I don’t want to walk through parks
-I can care less about the Sears tower, sorry.
-I like museums, but I can do that in my home state too, so don’t recommend that either

GO ICE SKATING AT MILLENNIUM PARK! it is so fun! It doesn’t involve walking through a park too! Also go to Navy Pier, it is so enjoyable. At Navy Pier there are so many things to do, if you go on their website you can look at all of the events and activities that they have there. Here is the website:

	Daytime Activities:
If you are looking for some good Chicago Style pizza go to either the original Gino’s East on the north side or go to Pequod’s in Lincoln Park.

And while you’re in Lincoln Park go to the Lincoln Park Zoo and check out the Silver-back Gorillas. I know you said you don’t want to walk through any parks but this would be well worth the FREE trip. Those animals are just amazing. They’re close to the entrance so you can be in and out within 30 minutes.

Night life Activities:
I suggest going to the bars around Wrigley Field. Sluggers is fun because there is a dance club on the ground level, batting cages and arcade upstairs, and a piano bar ($5.00 cover) next to the arcade. The piano bar drowns out the noise in the arcade area.

Right across the street is the Goose Island Brewery, just north is Vines, and then Cubby Bear (some people have nicknamed it Clubby Bear). It’s all on Clark.

There is also a bar at the corner of Belmont and Southport called Schubas. This is a great place to find local music. They should have listings on their website.

One more place I must mention is the Green Mill. It’s an old Jazz Club on Broadway right near the Aragon Ballroom. They usually don’t start packing it in there until around 10pm.

Well that should keep you busy for at least one day. Good Luck and Happy Birthday!

I want to know how many of you grew up rooting for your parents team then switched later? My whole life I was brought up rooting for my fathers home town teams in Chicago. I was a military brat and moved every 3 years so a hometown team for me was never an option until highschool. We moved to Maryland and stayed ever since. By that time I already had strong roots in chicago teams Bears, Cubs, Blackhawks, Bulls. Now that im 23 graduated both highschool and college Ive been in maryland a while and of course all my friends are Baltimore and Washington fans and I realized that it’ll probably won’t be long til I switch teams and my childhood teams fade. Its not like i can go to chicago games… If i ever want to get season tickets it’ll be with the hometown team same as my kids. They’ll probably grow up baltimore fans and so anyways I guess Im saying how many of you older adults that have moved switched teams as time has past?

I lived in Louisiana until I was 12 then my dad got transferred to New Jersey which is when I really started getting into football. All my friends were Giants fans so of course I was too. We lived there for 4 years which by then I had become a total nut for the Giants, knew all the players, stats, and everything about them. Then we moved back to Louisiana and I just could not bring myself to be a Saints fan, after all it was the 80′s and they were losers. All of my friends, family, and even my husband are avid Saints fans so I always get hassled over my beloved Giants. I went to the Superdome for the Giants/Saints game in 09 all decked out in my NY gear and was proud to do it, too bad they lost their butts off…but guess whose laughing at who now?!

Oh yeah. I live in Minnesota, and I’m a pretty big Bulls fan, but I can never watch any of their any games because we don’t have the damnn premium sports package for cable. Every once in a while it’s on and it’ll be a treat, but overall it just sucks. I’m stuck reading the play by plays on espn after the games. I hope I can stick with them throughout the years.

I have always lived in Chicago so rooting for Chicago teams was always easy for me to do. My younger brother is a Colts fan in the NFL, everyone else in my family is a Bears fan so I’d have to ask him how it is to root for a team outside your hometown.

Im actually having some sort of sports identity crisis at the moment. My whole life my father raised me a Chicago sports fans because that was his hometown team. I was a military brat so we moved every three years. I never had a hometown so I rooted for all my fathers teams. By the time my dad retired and we settled in Maryland I had already had strong roots for the Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, and Cubs. I’ve been a Chicago sports fan my whole life, but Now I’m 23 have graduated both high school and college and have been in Maryland for almost 10 years. I consider myself a Marylander I even live in downtown Baltimore City, but how can I ever have a real connection with my hometown if I’m forever a Chicago sports fan? All my friends are Baltimore fans and I’m surrounded by them. I wish I could just be a Baltimore fan but Chicago sports is such a big part of my life growing up and I can’t let it go. How can I deal with this issue? It’s like I’ll never experience the sense of Baltimore pride if I remain a Chicago supporter… Please bring some insight.

There is no reason you can’t like both, keep your father’s and your childhood legacy going. It is hard to root for a team that has been down, and easy to bandwagon for a team in the playoffs, just make sure you are not doing it for the easy way out. Going through the tough times with a favorite team makes the good times so much sweeter. And sometimes it is fun to be the odd man out. You might get ribbed a bit when your team flops, but being able to piss off a whole room when your team is the one doing well can be mighty satisfying.

I will be an LSU and Saints fan where ever the hell I go.

Hey, if they are your real friends then they won’t care. I’m sure that there is no rivalry between Baltimore and Chicago. The Ravens barely ever face the Bears, and same for the Cubs and the Orioles. You shouldn’t worry. Maybe just a few arguments on whose better but you shouldn’t worry. Stay with your heart and stay a Chi town boy.

someone needs to root for the Orioles

Do what you feel is the right thing to do

DH in both leagues

150 Game schedule

12 playoff teams (6 teams per league)
Wild-Card Series (Best of 5)
Division Series (Best of 7)
Championship Series (Best of 7)
World Series (Best of 7)

I KNOW YOU ARENT THINKING!ITS FINE JUST THE WAY IT IS.AND THOSE ARE SOME PRETTY STUPID NAMES FOR EXPANSION TEAMS.THOSE PEOPLE DONT NEED BASEBALL ADDED TO THEM DOWN THERE,THEY HAVE THERE COLLEGE FOOTBALL AND BBQS.but i do agree with you on the number of games though.DH IS FINE IN THE AL WE DONT NEED IT IN THE NL.AND ITS THE OAKLAND ATHLETICS NOT SAN JOSE.JUST TO PUT IT MILDLY,I DONT AGREE WITH YOU.

Well Considering they’re just NFL rules no

I feel like this would be too much for MLB to handle.
First off creating two new teams is harder than you think, on top of that, you have to build a billion dollar stadium and odds are people wont show up.

	1. Four divisions = 4 division winners plus 2 wildcards = 6 teams
Two wildcard teams = 1 wild card series winner
>>>>Results in 5 teams. How does that work? What happens next?

2. A best of 5 wild card series means division winners would have to sit around for a week. Not good for division winners – too much idle time.

3. New Orleans would have difficulty supporting a MLB team over a 75 home schedule.

4. Royals and Rays would fit better in South Divisions of other leagues

Yeah, the league isn’t adding two new teams. And baseball isn’t going to have NFL rules, you should just be happy with realignment in 2013 when Houston moves to the NL. The leagues will be equal then, but the MLB isn’t the NFL. The DH in both leagues is probably going to happen eventually though, bud selig has already shown interest in that.

Carolina and New Orleans would have trouble supporting teams over the course of 75 games.
Mutli-tiered playoffs with byes are an awful idea for baseball, there’s too much down time.
I am not sure that Orlando would be any better suited for the Rays than Tampa is.
Kansas City has no business in the NL, you may as well have KC in the AL and Houston in the NL

But, that being said the reason that this is a terrible idea is….

“DH in both leagues”

No thank you. AL baseball is lame enough with this contrived garbage position, it need to get ****ed right in the eye and get out of baseball forever.

Things I like about your idea:
“World Series (Best of 7)”
THAT’S IT.

There will be a minor realignment come 2013. With that being said, highly doubt they will be expanding anytime soon. And if they did consider to expand, they could come up with better places than New Orleans. No offense to New Orleans but they don’t have the market to support a team. You can’t just cut games from the season. The players union will not allow you to just change it overnight. With that being said, baseball would still be the longest played sport so they have that much more to prove themselves that they deserve the play offs.

	Honestly, not much.
