PHOENIX — Since April 4, 2005, Carlos Zambrano has made 133 regular-season pitching appearances. But none of them have come against the D-backs, which might have a little to do with why the Cubs have had a less-than-stellar record against Arizona.

Well, that changes Tuesday night, when Lou Piniella will sic Zambrano on the D-backs in the middle game of this series.

The Cubs ace will have the help of some reinforcements as he tries to apply the brakes to a skid that has seen Chicago lose five of six and fall four games behind the Cardinals in the National League Central.

He figures to be caught by Koyie Hill, both to give .119-hitting Geovany Soto a break and to try slowing down the D-backs, who stole five bases in Monday's series-opening 7-2 victory.

And expected back in the lineup will be Milton Bradley, who has made one start since April 12 and doesn't have a hit since April 10.

Recovered from a groin injury, Bradley pinch-hit Monday night as a prelude to his return to the starting lineup.

"Good. We need him. Hopefully, he will come back 100 percent," outfielder Alfonso Soriano said.

"We're definitely looking forward to getting the hurt guys back," infielder Mike Fontenot said.

However, third baseman Aramis Ramirez (calf) and first baseman Derrek Lee (neck spasms) won't yet be back. Carlos Marmol (knee) may resume his setup duties.
